Anand L Rai speaks about his next dwarf film with Shah Rukh Khan
Filmmaker Anand L Rai, after the super success of ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, is all set to start his next movie this year. He is teaming up with Shah Rukh Khan for the first time for the yet-untitled movie which he has been planning for a long time.
Anand is currently scripting the movie with his co-writer Himanshu Sharma which he depicts as a “seed that has just been planted”. Talking to Mumbai Mirror, Rai said the film “a family entertainer with lots of romance”. According to him, this film is both emotionally and technically an extremely difficult film and it is going to be a lot of hard work and patience for Shah Rukh who plays a man who is just three-feet-one-inch tall.
This much-talked about dwarf project which was first offered to Salman Khan, is said to be a full-fledged love story. “Someone great once said that there are no bad actors, only bad directors’, and I believe that. My films should bring out the unsaid conversations and interactions between characters. In Raanjhanaa, everyone identified with Dhanush’s character, Kundan, a lovelorn boy while in Tanu Weds Manu Returns, we explored Kangana’s (Ranaut) Datto, a woman with lots of grey shades. My next explores these unique exchanges of love as well,” said Rai.
Anand is so excited to begin his next movie with SRK and says, “I’m looking forward to seeing him in the dwarf avatar.” Talking about his leading hero, he shows a lot of respect to him and says, “Nobody understands ordinariness better than Mr Khan.”
“Meeting the man makes you believe that nothing can beat experience! He has seen life not just as an actor but also as a person. He is large-hearted, intelligent and has a great understanding of human beings. I am in love with him,” Anand said.
